Accessibility

Purpose

Sousa Concrete is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive environment for employees, applicants, clients, contractors, visitors, and members of the public. We are committed to meeting the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

 

Commitment

Sousa Concrete is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities. We are committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that respects their dignity and independence.

We are committed to identifying, removing, and preventing barriers to accessibility and to meeting our obligations under the AODA and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

 

Accessible Communication

Sousa Concrete will communicate with individuals with disabilities in a manner that considers their accessibility needs.

Accessible formats and communication supports may include:

  • Electronic copies of documents.

  • Large-print documents.

  • Verbal communication assistance.

  • Alternative communication methods upon request.

The company will work with the individual to determine the most appropriate communication method.

 

Service Animals

Persons with disabilities accompanied by a service animal are welcome on all areas of Sousa Concrete premises that are open to employees, visitors, customers, and third parties, unless otherwise prohibited by law.

Where a service animal is excluded by law, Sousa Concrete will explain the reason and work with the individual to determine an alternative means of providing access to services or facilities.

 

Support Persons

A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be permitted to have that support person accompany them while accessing company services or facilities.

Sousa Concrete will consult with the individual and consider health and safety requirements before determining whether a support person is required in a particular situation.

 

Notice of Temporary Disruptions

Sousa Concrete will provide notice when there is a planned or unexpected disruption to facilities or services used by persons with disabilities.

The notice will include:

  • Reason for the disruption.

  • Expected duration.

  • Alternative arrangements, where available.

Notices may be posted:

  • At the office entrance.

  • Reception area.

  • Company website (if applicable).

  • Other appropriate communication methods.

 

Employment Accessibility

Sousa Concrete will notify employees and job applicants that accommodations are available throughout recruitment, hiring, employment, return-to-work, and performance management processes.

Accommodation requests will be assessed individually and in consultation with the employee.

Availability of Documents

This Accessibility Policy and related accessibility documents are available upon request.

Accessible formats and communication supports will be provided in a timely manner and at no additional cost.

Feedback Process

Sousa Concrete welcomes feedback regarding accessibility and customer service.

Feedback may be provided through:

  • In person

  • Telephone

  • Email

  • Written correspondence

Feedback will be reviewed by management and responded to as appropriate.

Accessible formats and communication supports will be provided upon request.
